Zoom

Today my Zoom H2n arrived! It’s a neat bit of kit. I’ve ordered an accessory pack to go with it which includes a wind shield, tripod, remote and a case. I’m going to spend this weekend learning how to use it then go out in Lincoln next week and start recording. Mostly this week I have been planning what sounds I want to record but also finalising the idea of the project itself. I’ve decided to do a total of 4 tracks that are ar_DSC0896ound 6 minutes long. Two of the tracks will represent the hours 12am – 6am. I’m doing two tracks for in this time scale because I think there two different sides to Lincoln’s nightlife – The student night and the eerily quiet night. This all depends where you are in Lincoln so I want to explore the city over a few evenings and see what can be heard. As for the next two tracks these will involve sounds from Lincoln throughout the day. One of these tracks will try emphasise the rush of Lincoln during the day but with the use of voices around town and the campus. The last track will again be the rush of Lincoln but I want it to sound quite industrial as trains come speeding through everyday, there is constant traffic and always construction work going on somewhere. A continuous theme that will run through each track is the sound of the trains. Because no matter where you are or the time of day you can hear them and see how they put the city on stand still.
